For the next three weeks, Dover designer and guest blogger Amy Tilow will walk you through this fabulous home remodeling project which features a gorgeous, well-appointed master bathroom and walk-in closet. You’ll get an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of this project – from beginning to end.
BLOG #3 of 3 IN A SERIES:
A high-style master bathroom transformation
Once the floor and shower tiles were selected, we knew the cabinets needed to be painted a deep, saturated black with a sleek countertop in solid white quartz. These solid colors anchor the room and bring cohesiveness with the marble. We used Medallion Cabinets by Reliable Cabinets in a traditional profile—and then let the other luxe finishes and fixtures add texture and visual interest.
The satin-finish brass fixtures provide a touch of glam: The homeowner sourced these fabulous rectangular brass pulls, accessories and mirrors.
The sophisticated faucet—Newport Brass “Joffrey” 2-Handle in Satin Brass—is the ideal complement.
As part of this master bathroom transformation, we also eliminated another bathroom in the hallway to create a walk-in closet and separate linen closet.

To finish off the transformation, we also designed and installed a deck off the master bedroom. We removed a window, installed a sliding patio door and built the single platform deck using TimberTech® planks. Both bedrooms had carpet replaced with solid oak flooring, finished to match existing flooring in the rest of the house, again, bringing balance to the home.
During & After
The homeowner was thrilled with the results: She got the master bathroom she had dreamed of, a much-needed walk-in closet, along with a private, comfortable outdoor living space that ties it all together.
