Dover Project Feature: Contractor of the Year Award, First Place Bathroom Remodel

BLOG #2 of 4 IN A SERIES

Our team at Dover was thrilled to be honored by NARI with a Contractor of the Year (CotY) Award for a bathroom remodel completed for our customer in Lakewood. Enjoy this guest blog series by designer Amy Tilow that takes you on a project walkthrough…

Our construction team started where the couple had left off years before, completing the demo by removing the rest of the plaster walls and ceiling, and taking out the mud-base floor.

We discovered floor joists that were rotted and a ceiling that was not level.  Major plumbing issues were uncovered, as well:  The stack had a hole in it and the opened ceiling revealed a crack in the pipes in the bathroom above.  At this stage, all plumbing and structural concerns were corrected and upgraded to code.

The existing bathroom lights had individual switches located in the middle of the room, not by the door, requiring one to enter the room in the dark!

THE BATHROOM: BEFORE & AFTER

The renovation corrected these poor functional elements and added modern-day conveniences, while completely transforming the forgotten space, creating a beautiful bathroom retreat.

Next week, I’ll focus on the details and selections to show you how we incorporated the homeowners’ personal tastes and style into this revamped bathroom space.

Best,

Amy Tilow
