Now that the holidays are over with boxes neatly packed away and family and friends gone, it’s time to regroup. Whether you hosted a cocktail party or entertained houseguests for an entire week, chances are you had some extra activity in your home during the holiday season. With that fresh in your mind, this is the ideal time to think about how well your house performed and consider things you might like to change, add, update, expand, etc.
As we know, regardless of how big our home is, people always gather in the kitchen. How did your kitchen fare? Does it have ample prep space? Could you use more storage? Does the space work well for entertaining? In some cases, an entire kitchen renovation is in order—or you might need to simply reconfigure your kitchen, i.e. expand your island, delete a planning desk and convert the space into floor-to-ceiling pantry. Adding French doors for access to an outside patio or deck or installing new windows to brighten up a breakfast nook are also smaller-scale kitchen upgrades that go a long way toward reinventing the space.
Is living space your big challenge when you have guests in town? Do you have a basement that could be renovated? We just finished a beautiful basement remodel for customers in Avon that gives this busy family comfortable rec room space along with the convenience of a full kitchen. This is one of those projects that solves a host of home challenges in one complete remodel.
When you pause and take a look around your house you might just decide that all it needs is a facelift—perhaps new flooring? Refinishing a fireplace? A fresh coat of paint?
After you decide what it is you’d like to change or update, the next step is to work on your budget and get out your calendar: Clearly you won’t have a finished basement complete by the Super Bowl, but you could manage a new room addition by the Spring if you get started now. All it takes is that first step.
The Best Is Yet To Come,
