Define the Project
Setting the stage for your remodeling effort, the first step is to define the project. For example, you are remodeling your bathroom: Is your goal to maximize space or merely give the room an updated look? Are you adding or removing tub/shower fixtures? Do you want more storage? Are you seeking a serene spa environment or a family-friendly vibe? Do you have pictures of design ideas that you like?
Our designers work with you to help you formulate your project description, which helps to define the project plan. A large part of this process is determining your budget and how that may affect what you really, really want in comparison to what you need. The Dover team will work with you to identify different materials and suggestions for your project that work within your budget and get you the results you envision.
Make a Project Plan
While budget plays into project planning, it shouldn’t be a limiting factor: At Dover, we work to maximize resources to deliver greater value. You can trust that we offer straightforward pricing—no gimmicks, no sales or specials—just our very best work, at a very honest rate.
Using that budget as a framework, we tap our in-house design team to convert your project ideas into the needed sketches, drawings (including complete CAD designs) and specifications.
Approve the Quote & Proposal
After drawings are finalized, we review the final plans with you along with a detailed proposal that outlines specific work to be completed—accompanied by a written quote. At this stage, we ask for your approval so that we can take the next step in securing permits and scheduling.
Fine Tune the Details
Working closely with our project designers, we assist you in finalizing all product, material and fixture selections before actual construction begins. This step ensures work continuity on the job and helps to keep the project running on schedule and on budget.
Begin the Work
After the final selections are made, a pre-construction conference is held in your home to review the construction process and answer your questions. At this meeting, you can expect to receive the actual project start and completion dates, in writing. We also will discuss various details about accessing your home when you may not be there, your pets and their safety during the project and other important items that can have a huge effect on your project.
Finishing Touches
When your project is nearly complete, our Construction Manager conducts an informal project walk-through (with you) in your home to review work to date and compile a checklist of incomplete items or issues that need to be addressed. The items on this list are usually managed within one week.
