This remodel dramatically changes how this home looks and functions —from the new garage addition and custom mudroom to a complete front elevation refresh—improvements that work together to create a more welcoming, cohesive design and elevate everyday routines, making life more organized and beautifully styled.
These homeowners needed more space—in their garage, on their front porch and in their entryways. In addition to a larger garage, the homeowners wanted a mudroom to help organize everyday life, additional living space on the front porch, an elevated front entry and a refreshed, updated façade.
The Plan – Before & After
Our team got to work, guided by the homeowners’ wish list and style inspiration. We reimagined the home’s garage and front elevation, adding livable square footage where they needed it most, increasing storage capacity, improving flow and function throughout and enhancing curb appeal. The design plans:

The Garage – Before & After
The home’s existing side-load garage wasn’t deep enough to accommodate the family’s full-size SUV. Not only was the garage short on vehicle space, but it also lacked storage and a separate entry door.

We changed the orientation of the new garage to a front-load design, increasing its depth by 4 feet and its length by 9 feet. This redesign expanded the garage from a two-car space to a 2.5-car garage with longer bays for oversized vehicles, plus extra storage and an exit door to the backyard.
Front Porch & Exterior – Before & After
The home’s original front porch and entry were builder-grade and basic, and the exterior had faded over the years. The homeowners wanted a cleaner, fresher new look with a welcoming front door and entryway.

By pushing the roofline forward to achieve the required depth for the new front-load garage, we moved the home’s entire front elevation to the same point, creating a seamless look that feels original to the home rather than an afterthought. This additional square footage increased the livable space on the front porch and provided the area needed to create a stunning front entry.
For the entryway, we raised the pitch of the existing roof, added a new double front door and finished with a barrel ceiling lined with wood beadboard stained a rich walnut. This feature is dramatic in size and contrast, which creates the home’s focal point.
Other exterior upgrades include painting the siding and brick (Sherwin-Williams, Alabaster), new shutters, new Pella® Lifestyle windows and a new porch deck, driveway and walkways.
The New Mudroom
Borrowing space from the previous garage creates a mudroom that directs foot traffic from the garage into the kitchen or down to the basement. The mudroom includes custom cabinetry with cubbies, bench seating, shoe columns and hidden storage. A beverage fridge is tucked under a maple wood countertop stained to match the benches and integrate the wood grain from the adjoining kitchen. Luxury vinyl tile (12″ x 24″ Mannington ADURA MAX Meridian in Stucco) is installed in a herringbone pattern with glue and grout to mimic ceramic tile.

Primary Bathroom – Before & After
The success of the exterior and mudroom remodel led to an additional upgrade: the primary bathroom. The space was outdated and dreary, with an unused bathtub that took up too much space. The homeowners wanted a bathroom with a more contemporary feel and function.
To keep costs contained, the homeowners decided to work within the room’s existing footprint. We removed the bathtub and installed a custom 72″ double vanity with Kohler® Caxton undermount sinks, leaving space for the homeowners to source a piece of furniture to complete their vision for the extra space.

At the original shower location, we refreshed the space with Hamilton Parker, Carmen in Seville in Snow, gloss finish tile on the walls and Anatolia Soho, hexagon in Soft Sage, matte finish on the shower floor. A custom bench seat, niche and a duo showerhead and handheld fixture in the same color (Delta Broderick® 14 Series) provide a cohesive look. New flooring (Mannington, ADURA Flex, Basilica in Pillar) finishes the bathroom, creating a lighter, brighter space that feels refreshed.
