The 1920s basement was dark and gloomy. Piping from the boiler left poor headroom and the original stairs were far from kid-friendly.
The homeowner was looking for a total transformation. The design included a new staircase leading down to the home’s bright, open lower level. The project included reconfiguring heat runs and enclosing the pipes in soffits, which helped turn the space into an inviting and fully-functional family area, complete with a small bar and half bathroom.
